Making Strides in 2012

January 16, 2012

I know I am now two weeks past the New Year…  but I swear I’ve been taking time to jump right into some of my goals for the year. 🙂

The first being… take more time for myself. As an artist and a business owner who likes to have control over everything… I often give so much time to my craft that I don’t step back to do other things. Cook. Grocery Shop. Take an afternoon off with my mom. Rearrange my furniture. Wander in antique stores. Organize. Be social. See friends. The list goes on and on. Ok, so I do these things.. but not as often as I should. Now that I am 30 (only by a couple months 😉 ), I figure I should re-prioritize a few things before time slips away from me. Especially since 30 is the new 20 and I want to soak up every second of all this awe-someness!! Ha!

Another reason I’m a tad behind? Well… my office assistant needs to be fired. 🙂 He’s mowed down one apple keyboard and several of my to-do lists! Fortunately for him, every time he’s in trouble and I put him in his cage he apologizes. That’s right my friends. My. parrot. apologizes. As soon as I put him away he says, “What’s the problem?… I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It’s ok. Are you ok?” Hahaha. If he wasn’t so camera shy I would catch him on video. If anyone knows how to attach a voice memo clip into the blog, I’d be happy to share his conversations with himself 🙂There are many things I plan to change this year… but here are just a few…

Eat out less. Cook more.

Continuously push my artistic eye to find inspiration everywhere.Give up some control. Outsource. And start to enjoy more days outdoors when I’m not shooting a session.

Be more social. Step away from the Mac screen and spend time with family and friends. Patios. Race tracks. Backgammon. Pedicures. Anything. Just be social.

Find time to relax. Clearly on a beach is always the preference 🙂

My creativity gets rejuvenated when I step back a bit. I have a lot of great ideas and projects on my must list for this year. Must keep the creative mo-jo flowing. Are there other resolutions for the New Year? Of course… but my parrtot ate the rest of my list 😉
