For anyone who is not experiencing the unbelievable cold weather, snow, ice, and subzero temperatures… I will almost always tell you you are lucky. Every time I get into my frozen car and feel the ice cold air come through the vents, every time I have to feel the wind and snow pierce my face while getting gas, and each and every time I nearly slide through a stop sign and say one last prayer that I won’t die… I ask myself… “Why am I still in Mn?” I would say this question goes through my mind maybe 17 times a day …all depending on how many times I leave my comfy office 😉
Molly and Peder are from Mn/Wisconsin and now live in California. Since they were in town for the holidays, we decided to get together for their engagement shoot. When Molly said how much they missed the snow, and they wanted to shoot part of the session outside… the thoughts of piercing wind screamed at me. I am always up for anything, but was a bit afraid that my camera would probably just turn off midsession and cuss at me under it’s breath. 😉
The three of us basically hiked through the snow, slid down stairs, and skated over the frozen ice only to find ourselves fairly warm! Keep in mind it was -12 degrees when I woke up that morning. (And YES that is a NEGATIVE sign in front of those two numbers incase you were unaware of what that sign is haha!) I guess when you are hiking and enjoying yourself, your body stays happy and warm! And, I guess the hand and feet warmers, and two pairs of pants I was wearing probably helped.. but we all actually took a layer of coats off at one point. This was a day that I was happy to be in Mn. It was a winter wonderland!!!!!
This might have to be one of my favorite images to date.
We had a lot of fun. And, hey, why not make a snow angel while your at it?!
Peder and Molly, you two are so much fun. I am glad you were willing to take chances with me!
