She often saw him passing in the hallways and would casually time her ride in the elevator with his. He sat across from her on the bus ride from work and when arriving home he would conveniently run into her while grabbing their mail. This was a task that he had previously delegated to his roommate. For the seemingly long, and sometimes awkward 15 seconds it took to get to the third floor of their building, Megan found herself feeling butterflies. With only casual snippets of elevator conversations and mailbox hello’s, she found herself with a crush. Just doors down the hallway, on the same floor, was the man she began to continually talk about to her girlfriends and refer to as “apartment crush”.  As she sat, hand in hand, across from him in a field of tall grass… I asked her to use one word to describe the feeling when he walked out of the elevator and asked her out for the first time. Her face simply lit up and her body language spoke volumes. Here is her face the moment she locked eyes with him, and before she responded with “jump for joy”.
