Years ago, I learned how to taper my communication skills in relation to photography. I worked in a studio where many kids found the room scary or overwhelming. I was often purposely booked with the kids who did not want to leave the safety of mom’s arms because I could tailor to any situation. That experience has made me who I am as a photographer. All kids show up to photos differently. Some are ready and excited to be the center of attention and others need time to warm up. My absolute favorite thing is when I have the opportunity to watch a child come out of their shell and show off their true personality. Does it take time? Of course. But it is worth every single second.
