LEGACY HILL FARM | JORDAN + TAYLOR

August 18, 2017

There are moments from a wedding day that simply cannot be duplicated. Ones that tell your story through genuine emotion, and each are completely unique for every couple. For Jordan and Taylor, these were moments that included each of their parents. As the hustle of portraits began on the amazing property of Legacy Hill Farm, Jordan’s mom was brought up to see her for the first time. While the reaction of every mother is important, this one struck an incredible cord with me. The bride’s mom can no longer speak so her limited facial expressions are all she has. The joy that filled her face is a memory I will never forget…. and I hope she feels the same. As Taylor awaited his soon-to-be wife to be escorted down the aisle by her dad, he fought his tears. When he reached out and shook his father-in-law’s hand, their faces matched… and they were emotional. The party began and the venue was filled with the stunning floral by Ashley Fox and incredible calligraphy details by Shasta Bell. At one point, the sun flared through the barn window giving an extra glow amongst the twinkle lights and chandeliers. The toasts began and the brides father stood. He thanked the groom’s mom for raising such an incredible man on her own for the last 10 years. It was one of those incredibly heart felt thank you’s… one that had to give her that reassurance for all she had done. The lights dimmed, drinks were refilled, and the chatter grew as people mingled. When the dance floor filled, the bride’s sister pushed their mom out onto the dance floor. Immediately, her new son-in-law reached for her hands and began to dance with her. Again, her face lit up and she smiled. Tears filled my eyes. I turned around only to see my assistant, Amy, also trying to keep it together. You see, it’s those moments that matter. Jordan’s mom may not be able to tell that story… but I guarantee everyone around her will. The best part…. there are photos to relive it! So, Jordan and Taylor… I ask you to print your photos. Let them be a tangible experience and one to physically hand down. May these memories become the first chapter of your story together as husband and wife. Cheers!

It’s that first moment she saw her mom.

Entertaining groomsmen. Amazing light! That reassuring moment as a mom…. when someone notices and acknowledges all that hard work you put in to your child.  And here is one of my favorite moments from the day. The mother of the bride being a part of the party and dancing with her son-in-law.  When a toddler challenges you to a dance off. Legacy Hill Farm is magical at all times of the day.
