It was a message written on the wall that just happened to be in their very tracks on the wedding day. “Subito” is a musical term for suddenly and it fits so perfectly with the story of these two. As we walked towards a wall of musical notes, our driver pointed out the word and it’s meaning, not knowing how well it related to them. In the midst of life change for both Nick and Gina, their story began when they least expected it and it was sudden. A reading during their intimate ceremony supported this journey of having love in their life.
You don’t find love, it finds you. It’s got a little bit to do with destiny, fate, and what’s written in the stars. -Anais Nin
This new chapter of their story made them realize the importance of making the moments count with the ones you love. Nick’s mom is fiercely battling cancer, his son is gaining a stepmom, and Gina steps back from a small town last name that was close to her heart. In the blink of an eye our lives can change and we simply can’t control it. So, we celebrate those moments that will live in our hearts always. This day is one filled with fleeting moments that will continue to be the beginning of their story as husband and wife. As Gina said it best in her vows to Nick’s son, Henry…..
“I look forward to a lifetime of endless laughs, dance parties, whistle fests, storytelling, and amazing adventures!
Thank you for sharing your dad with me. I love you, buddy.”
And if you were a part of this amazing celebration you will remember…. “To Life…. To Love… To Mards!”
All of a sudden… love found them.
Henry stepped in and hugged his Nana completely on his own. It was not just to stay warm but felt like a place of comfort for him. ADORE this. A pin worn by the family celebrated Nick’s brother who has passed away. I love that Henry was unconsciously holding on to it in this photo below. A stunning small dinner at Le Meridien Chambers Rooftop Roomwith family followed by an eventful dance party. The first dance turned into a rap remix of the 90’s song, “Whoomp there it is”. I always get a little teary eyed when the dad dances with his daughter. It feels like a moment he is actually giving his little girl away. The mother son dance was one of the most emotional ones I’ve photographed. This incredibly joyous moment where cancer fell to the back of the mind and laughter and happiness fully took it’s place. The dance turned in to everyone forming a healing circle around his mom and singing together. MELT. MY. HEART. I have no idea what was said here between Nick and Henry, but it looked like he needed a break from the hustle of the day. Dad sat and comforted him and said things only he will remember. When you are the official DJ of the MN Timberwolves an Crunch surprises EVERYONE! No big deal… just a serious break dancer kickin’ the party up a notch. Also… Henry crowd surfed. I quickly followed him when he was set down. He ran up to his dad and said, “That was AWESOME!” Cutest thing ever. DJ Dudley ROCKED the party, but it was only a matter of time before the groom (also known as DJ Mad Mardigan) jumped on for a few songs.
And because behind the scenes photos are always entertaining… here were are trying to keep this light from breaking while Gina puts on her dress. We’re awesome.
